Dutch Caribbean Research Week

April 5, 2023

From 26 to 30 June 2023, NWO is organising the third Dutch Caribbean Research Week. Five days packed with interesting lectures, panel discussions, cultural entertainment and networking opportunities. You can register here https://dutchcaribbeanresearchweek.nl/signup/

Registration is still open, but the deadline for abstract submissions is nearing!

Abstract and poster submission

Do you want to present your research plans or research results during the Dutch Caribbean Research Week? This is your chance! Please indicate on the registration form what type of presentation you would like to give and submit an abstract. There are several options to choose from:

  • A poster presentation, the common way to present your plans or results at a scientific conference. You will be given a time slot to present a digital poster, and the audience can decide, based on your abstract, if they would like to visit your poster and discuss your work. In principle, we can honour all requests for poster presentations.
  • A short plenary oral presentation of 15 minutes. Please note that the DCRW programme committee will make a selection for oral presentations based on the abstracts. You will be informed in May if you are selected.

Deadline for abstract submission is now 10 April 2023.

Themes

The Dutch Caribbean Research Week 2023 is based on five themes that cover five day parts:

Monday Economy & Society

Tuesday Health & Healthcare

Wednesday Environment & Climate

Thursday Culture & Identity

Friday Towards just and sustainable future

An explanation of the themes can be found here.

The theme on the final day of the conference will be ‘Towards just and sustainable futures’, which will include interactive sessions with space for discussion points that you find important or relevant. Would you like to suggest a discussion point related to this theme? Please send your input to [email protected].

New! Online and on location

Similar to previous editions, the Dutch Caribbean Research Week 2023 will be held online, in order to provide access for as many interested people as possible within and outside the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Due to the time difference, the event will take place in the morning for the Caribbean region and in the afternoon for the Netherlands. In addition to the online broadcast, various activities will take place on several locations. More information about this will follow soon.

We look forward to meeting you!
